Well, I can finally write about this, as for the first time in my entire life, I can say, “I have quit smoking!” It’s a really big deal, as everyone who knows me knows I have struggled with this for years. I have tried at least a dozen times to quit; tried every aid imaginable. I have done the patch, the gum, chantix, you name it……it seems that I just wasn’t ready.
I remember the words my father would say everytime I would fail and go right back to smoking, some times after over three months of having quit, “Just keep trying, Ang, one day it WILL stick.” Eventhough it’s only been a month for me this time, it’s much different. I put my mind to it this time and it has been the easiest
of all times past. I smoked my last cigarette Tuesday night, May 30th while celebrating our move the next day to Costa Rica with my best friend in the whole world, Julie, her husband, my husband and another great friend, Lee. We laughed and told stories and hung out and when I went to bed, I was totally out of cigs. The next day, we left for the airport at 5:00 am for a 7:00 am flight, and that was that.
I bought one of those “fake” cigarettes by V2cigs (free commercial for
my smoking friends). This is what finally helped me the best. It has vapor water in it and yet “smokes” like a cigarette. I had it with me for the first couple of weeks, and the hand to mouth action really helped. I only take it with me now if we go out and I am drinking any alchohol, (which is another thing that’s hard to believe) I rarely drink alchohol. And when I do it’s vodka or beer. I have had a couple of Jack and Cokes here and there, but the cost of Jack Daniels here is outrageous and other liquers more than half price……….anyway, that’s the update on Angela getting healthy and more responsible for her health and future and her much enjoyed newfound happiness!!!
